HM Insurance Group is offering unlimited lifetime maximum Stop Loss coverage for self-funded groups to help employers meet the mandates of the recently enacted Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). HM is offering this option in advance of the required date for changes.
Effective immediately, new and renewal policies can be written with an unlimited lifetime maximum and no annual maximum, subject to state regulatory approvals.
Other changes to HM’s Stop Loss policies to meet PPACA requirements with no impact on rates include dependent coverage to age 26 and the acceptance of employer plan documents that include waiving of pre-existing condition limitations. Additionally, HM has determined that it will not take into account or in any way change the way it currently pays qualified claims for policyholders who elect to participate in the Early Retiree Reinsurance Program.
HM is extending our offer of 5% off our best available rate quoted on 2010 new or renewal Specific Stop Loss rates, when your client packages HM Specific Stop Loss with an HM Worksite Advantage product(s). The HM Stop Loss and HM Worksite Advantage policies must have effective dates from July 1, 2010, through January 31, 2011.
HM Worksite products include Critical Illness, Accident, Disability Income, Term Life and Limited Benefit Medical. The new Package Program is designed to help your clients reduce the cost of benefits AND offer a more comprehensive benefits package.
For this program, the HM Worksite product(s) must be offered to full-time and/or part-time employees on a payroll deducted basis, and HM must have direct/face-to-face access to the client’s employees to present the Worksite product(s) in either group or one-on-one meetings.
Coverage is underwritten by HM Life Insurance Company, Pittsburgh, PA, or Highmark Casualty Insurance Company, Pittsburgh, PA, under policy form series HL601 or HL904 in all states except New York. In New York, coverage is underwritten by HM Life Insurance Company of New York, New York, NY, under policy form series HL601 or HL904. The coverage or service requested may not be available in all states and is subject to all applicable state and federal laws.
